A Wonderful Visit to Axe Valley Wildlife Park!

There’s something quite magical about animals – the way they lift our spirits, spark conversation, and connect us to the world around us. That's why visiting Axe Valley Wildlife Park is one of our residents' favourite things to do. Our visit this month was an unforgettable day of discovery, laughter and fresh air. From the striking stripes of the zebras to the bright pink plumes of the flamingos, there was plenty to capture the imagination.

The trip offered more than just a pleasant day out. Animal therapy is well known for its positive impact on both mental and physical well-being, and we certainly saw that in action. Residents were able to walk through the park at their own pace, enjoying some physical activity in a natural and relaxed way. The animals prompted conversations, smiles, and even a few surprised gasps – especially when the flamingos came quite close!

Beyond the excitement of meeting a variety of animals, the visit offered real benefits for social interaction and cognitive stimulation. Residents chatted amongst themselves, reminiscing about past pet experiences and sharing their thoughts on the different animals they saw. For some, the visit sparked memories of travels abroad or childhood days spent on farms, which opened the door to meaningful conversations with both staff and peers.

These shared moments help foster a strong sense of community and belonging – something we value deeply at Silverleigh. And it’s not just the residents who benefitted; our team thoroughly enjoyed supporting the visit and seeing the joy on everyone’s faces throughout the day.

We’re already looking forward to planning our next animal-themed adventure!
