Building Community Links Through Fundraisers

This March, residents, staff, and the local community came together to raise funds for Make-A-Wish, a charity dedicated to granting life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Through a series of enjoyable events, we created a wonderful opportunity for everyone to connect while supporting an incredible cause.
The fundraising efforts kicked off with a coffee morning on Tuesday, March 4th, where residents and visitors enjoyed freshly brewed tea and coffee, along with a selection of delicious homemade cakes. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with plenty of conversation and laughter filling the room. This was followed by a delightful afternoon tea on Friday, March 7th, featuring a spread of sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats. Both events were a fantastic way to bring people together while raising money through donations and raffle ticket sales.

To add an element of fun, we also launched a ‘Guess the Name of the Bear’ competition, which has sparked excitement among residents, staff, and visitors alike. The adorable teddy bear has been proudly displayed in our reception area, and everyone has been eager to take part. The winner will be announced on 28th March, and we can’t wait to see who takes home the prize!
We were honoured to welcome members of the Royal British Legion to both the coffee morning and afternoon tea. Their presence added a special touch to the events, allowing residents and guests to share stories, reminisce, and form new friendships. It was heartwarming to see the community, relatives, and residents all coming together as it reinforced the sense of connection and belonging that makes our home so special.

Beyond raising funds for a worthy cause, these events had a positive impact on everyone involved. For our residents, it was a chance to socialise, enjoy good food, and feel part of something meaningful. For staff, it was a rewarding experience to see the joy these gatherings brought. Most importantly, it reminded us all of the power of kindness, generosity, and community spirit.
